1. การอ่านเบอร์โทรศัพท์
การอ่านเบอร์โทรศัพท์จะอ่านเรียงตัว ดังนี้
02-215-2549 zero/o – two –two – one – five – two – five –
four – nine
01-233-4588 o one, two double three, four five double

02-821-5777 0 two, eight two one, five triple seven
สังเกตว่า
ถ้ามีเลขเหมือนกันติดกันสองตัว เราจะเขียน double นำหน้าตัวเลขตัวนั้น
และถ้ามีเลขเหมือนกันติดกันสามตัว เราจะใช้ triple นำหน้า
2. การอ่านบ้านเลขที่ การอ่านบ้านเลขที่จะอ่านทีละตัว
ถ้ามีเครื่องหมายทับ (/) เราจะอ่านว่า slash หรือ stroke
ก็ได้ ดังนี้
479/6 four seven nine slash/stroke six

การอ่านปี
1. ปกติเราจะอ่านทีละสองตัว ดังนี้
1985 = nineteen eighty-five
1728 = seventeen twenty-eight
2. ถ้าลงท้ายด้วย 00 เราจะอ่านว่า hundred ดังนี้
1300 = thirteen hundred
2500 = twenty-five hundred
3. ในช่วงระหว่างปี 1000 – 1099, 2000 – 2099 เราจะอ่านตัวหน้าเป็นหลักพัน
(thousand) ดังนี้
1023 = one thousand (and)
twenty-three
2006 = two thousand (and) six
**ตัวอักษรที่อยู่คู่กับปีจะมีอยู่สามประเภทหลักๆ ที่ใช้ในปัจจุบัน
A.D. (Anno Domini) คือ คริสตศักราช (ค.ศ.)
B.C. (Before Christ) คือ ปีก่อนคริสตศักราช
B.E. (Buddhist Era) คือ พุทธศักราช (พ.ศ.)
เช่น 2549 B.E. อ่านว่า twenty-five forty-nine B.E.

Time เวลา
1. การอ่านเวลาเมื่อเข็มยาวชี้ที่เลขสิบสอง จะอ่านได้ดังนี้
09.00 = It’s nine o’clock.
06.00 = It’s six o’clock.
2. การอ่านเวลาแบบมีนาที จะอ่านได้ 2 แบบ คือ
2.1 แบบอเมริกัน
จะอ่านชั่วโมงและตามด้วยนาที
ดังนี้
8.30 = It’s eight thirty.
3.15 = It’s three fifteen.
9.45 = It’s nine forty-five.
2.20 = It’s two twenty.
2.2 แบบอังกฤษ จะแบ่งการอ่านเป็น 2 ส่วน คือ
เมื่อเข็มยาวอยู่ก่อนและหลังเลข 6 ดังนี้
2.2.1 เมื่อเข็มยาวอยู่ก่อนเลข
6 เราจะใช้ past ตามหลังนาที และนำหน้าชั่วโมง ดังนี้
9.25 = It’s
twenty – five past nine.
3.10 = It’s ten past three.
2.2.2 เมื่อเข็มยาวอยู่หลังเลข
6 เราจะใช้ to โดยดูว่าเหลือกี่นาทีเข็มยาวจะถึงเลข
12 ดังนี้
2.40 = It’s
twenty to three
(อีก 20 นาที เข็มยาวจะถึงเลข 12 หรืออีก 20 นาที จะบ่ายสามโมง)
6.55 = It’s five to seven. (อีก 5 นาที
จะ 7 โมง)
3. เมื่อเข็มยาวชี้ที่เลข 6 เราจะใช้ It’s half
past ดังนี้
8.30 = It’s half past eight.
12.30 = It’s half past twelve
4. เมื่อพูดถึงเวลา 15 นาที เราจะนิยมใช้ a
quarter (1/4) มากกว่า fifteen ดังนี้
3.15 = It’s a quarter past three.
9.45 = It’s a quarter to ten.
